Electrical question from a dummy

Discussion in 'Boats and Motors' started by bronzback, Jun 1, 2004.

  1. O.K. I will admit I know nothing about electricity, My question is, I have a 12volt Minn Kota All Terrain AT40 trolling motor. (I dont know what year) When I hook it up it works fine, but I would like to change where the trolling motor battery is located but I don't have enough wire, can I just get the same wire and add on to it?

That you can do. Just make sure you use the same size wire. Also use good stake on connectors. I'd also suggest you get heat shrink and cover the connectors about 1" past the connection. Also use a good grade stranded wire, no solid. If you don't already have it I'd suggest installing a fuse or circuit breaker. Ask if you have any other questions.
