My brother and I have been trying to target some walley for the past two days, trolling with bandits, reef runners and Huskey Jerks. We worked the area between Green Island and Rattlesnake Island yesterday, and then tried shallower water from N point of Catawba back to East Harbor. On Sunday we fished from Kelly's Island west to S Bass and then Southeast back to East Harbor. We've caught a few 18-21" walleye, but have spent most of our time fighting with Farm Animals - got some huge sheep's head off Rattlesnake. The walleys we kept were stuffed fat with Mayfly Nymphs, and most of the schools were either down on the bottom. Or suspended af 20', but the walleye bite was slow, and we spent most of our time fighting the sheepshead (THEY DO PUT UP A BATTLE)

We would like to shift over to targeting smallmouth Nd would appreciate any suggestions you may have for locations. Currently plan to run over to Ruggles Beach and fish the shoreline north toward Vermillion. Thanks for any help

If walleyes are full of mayflies, try to target them higher in water. Many times you can see the line of bait below surface. Even if you aren't marking fish there, or do not see them, target that depth with lures.

Thanks, we'll try it!
