Drop-shotting hooks and plastics

Discussion in 'Tackle Talk' started by trane, Aug 4, 2004.

  1. Yesterday, I was fishing the breakwall that extends into lake erie where the Portage River flows into the lake in Port Clinton. I was doing pretty well fishing a tube in the traditional way and decided to try a drop-shot rig. I caught one nice bass and broke another fish off. It was the first time I had tried the rig. It seems like a good rig for rocks and highly-pressured areas. For those of you who are more experienced with it...what kind of hook do you use? I was using a straight Gamakatsu hook, but it was tough to thread a tube onto.

What kind of plastics do you use? I heard of Poor Boy's goby being good on erie, but have not seen them anywhere, yet.

I havent fished a whole lot with it but I use a 3/0 EWG Gamakatsu hook with a Bass Pro Shops magnum flippin' tube. When fishing with a finesse worm I use a #1-1/0 circle hook.

I use a 1/0 Gamakatsu G-Lock Hook. on a 3/16 oz drop shot weight on 8or10 lb test line.

    Good Luck
