I went to Deer Creek last night at about 6:30pm. Cat fish was the target but when I got there two older gentlemen said they only caught one nice cat in hours. Well I thought I coud do better and went upstream to waste an hour and I only caught one nice cat myself. I was bored and decided to change tactics and put a lure on my light rod. I hid my cat pole and gear in the weeds and started hitting the riffles for smallies. I caught about a pound and a half first cast and it was on. I caught several in a row and had a couple throw the hook with an awsome top water tail dance. Also caught a nice white Bass. Don't be afraid to switch your strategy. It paid off in a great way for me!
