The open water lake color is a bit more stained than usual from this weekend rain, but not to bad. Water was flowing over the spillway. Lake temperature was 56-degree (8 am). I marked a lot of fish out in 20-25 ft. water but nothing seemed very aggressive. I caught 15-25 small crappie (6-8 inches) and one 13 inch white bass (all returned unharmed). There seems to be a very good spawn from years gone past (a lot of dinks). I fished mostly near the sailboat bay. The fishing will pick up soon I hope. I also stopped by the South Shore Marina and asked if anybody has been catching anything of any size. There standard reply is "we've been seeing some real nice stringers".....(but were there any fish on the stringers). It was nice to get out and see the sights. Better fishing is in the very near future.
