I was popped by Johnny Law early last month for fishing where I'm not supposed to be. Oh well, life goes on.
A girl at work sent me this for the proper course of action next time this happens:

A man was stopped by a game warden in ****** recently with two buckets of fish leaving a lake well known for its fishing. The game warden asked the man, "Do you have a license to catch those fish?"

The man replied to the game warden, "No, sir. These are my pet fish."

    "Pet fish?!" the warden replied.

"Yes, sir. Every night I take these fish down to the lake and let them swim around for a while. I whistle and they jump back into their buckets, and I take them home."

"That's a bunch of hooey! Fish can't do that!"

The man looked at the game warden for a moment, and then said, "Here, I'll show you. It really works."

"O.K. I've GOT to see this!" the game warden replied.

The man poured the fish in to the water and stood and waited. After several minutes, the game warden turned to the man and said, "Well?"

    "Well, what?" the man asked.

"When are you going to call them back?" the game warden prompted.

"Call who back?" the man asked.

    "The FISH."

    "What fish?" the man asked.

By the way, I don't keep any fish on the commando raids. And I do have my license.
I fished this lake for 26 years and never had a problem. I have sat on the dam with uniformed police who were looking for swimmers while I was fishing.
Times have changed. They must be secretly dumping chemicals on the hill again late at night like they used to(I don't say this lightly, I saw them in the past doing this).
Oh well, back to West Branch......

  2. I grew up fishing a golf course that was behind my house. It was privately owned at first, and I had never had any problems. The city bought the course, and cops started patrolling it in the evening. The fishing was just too good to stop, I started fishing in camo! The cops would drive me home a few nights each month in the summer. My dad would come to the door and read me the riot act while the cops stood and watched. When he closed the door, he would always laugh and ask me what I caught!
