chicken livers

  1. r they tough enough to stay on a hook without any mesh

    If you buy fresh ones they are, frozen livers tend to get mushy when thawed.
     

  3. Be careful - some stores sell 'em "previously frozen" but don't tell you so. ask the meat counter guy. As Flathunter says, fresh are best.

    I cure my livers with garlic and salt. It toughens them up and they won't cast off the hook. They catch fish like crazy.

    What about Chicken gizzards? I knwo they stya on the hook real well, but when I used them a few years abck I dont think they worked too well. Also, its been a while, but if I recall correctly beef liver stays on alot better.

    I have not had good luck with gizzards or beef liver. only chicken liver.

    Gizzards suck, I never had any luck on beef liver either.

  9. Beef Livers work just as good if not better than Chicken if you can find them NOT prefrozen...they stay on the hook better too...But the pre-froze crap is about as good as nothing at all...
