We hit our local pond for some backyard bass this morning. We were out about an hour before sunrise throwing buzzbaits and buzzin' frogs. The action wasn't spectacular but we caught around 10. The highlight of the day was around 8:00. I was throwing a fluke which had landed me a fish or two. I tossed it up towards shore and was greeted by a viscious water breaking hit. The fish ran, taking drag like crazy. I thought this was the biggest bass I had ever tangled with. Got him up towards the boat and he dove under it 3 or 4 times. I started thinking it might be a cat. That's what it was, about 28 inches with a fat belly. Pretty exciting to have a cat hit like that !
