carp bonanza on gmr

    Had an interesting day on the GMR - a friend and i caught a mixture of carp, bass (one over 2 lbs), suckers, and a 5 lb channel cat. Some of the carp were ginormous, landed them on 4 lb line and a #8 aberdeen hook. I bet if it were warmer, they would have fought harder and snapped the line like thread.
    (i was hoping to catch a saugeye or a northern.)

    That's awsome, surprised with the current they wern't breaking your line! Funny to see snow on the ground and a carp in someones hands. Grats on a great day!

    The fish are in a deep hole, with an eddy - if you can keep them out of the main current, they sort of wash back up to you. Apparently a place for the fish to spend the winter. We got 4 about that size, i would bet if you could see in the water the fish are stacked up like cordwood.
