Let's start this thing off boys!

I took a hike last week in the afternoon for a few hours, water temp is 53°… Fished four hours, jig and a jig n bobber... nuthin.
Fast forward to this morning .... showed up around 7:30 AM… Water temp has jumped up to 57°… Nothing on retrieved jig… However the jig n bobber, set 18 inches deep… In about 3 feet of water.
success!

slowed down a little bit around 10 AM… I started casting and retrieving a 1/16 ounce chartreuse jig and I was able to get a couple takers but all the fish on the retrieved jig were only 8" or so. Kept 10 for the pot all were over 10". no hawgs yet.

can't wait to hear everybody's caesars reports on this thread… The annual Crappie campout is going to be a little bit later this year the third week of May… But I will be sure to post all the pics… Good luck, everybody!

Thanks! I Really hope to get another weekend with the bobber.

Would you suggest the upper or lower end of the lake this late in the spawn? Or does it really matter given the depth of CC?

well... had to do it... one last trip today with my dad and my uncle… Launched the boat at north pool ramp at 7 AM... we were on the water until 7 PM… Very long day! ended up keeping 46 nice Crappies (over 10"). + 2 saugeye. i'd say the spawn is damn near over… Only a few fish came on a retrieved jig today… Everything else came on Minnows set a 12 feet deep fishing 14-15 feet of water. And it was still a slow pick...Each spot would produce 5or 6 keepers, and we just kept rotating between 7 or 8 spots.
today was definitely the last day for me to take the boat out for this year's Crappie spawn. Between all the fish that I've caught on trips this spring, divided between guys that I fished with, I actually did not hit my 100 fillet mark in the freezer. But it still felt like a great year! Might make a couple bluegill trips in the next week or two… Tight lines, fellas.

I thought the crappie were done too. I went to my area where they spawn later this past Sunday & it sucked! I went home with 2 crappie & 2 saugeye. I went yesterday, but the target was saugeye since the crappie were done. Because of the somewhat unusual & fairly strong NE wind yesterday, I went to my area where the crappie spawn early. That decision was made completely on chasing saugeye, wind direction & conditions. I started fishing around 4pm & got out of the water a little after 9pm. I know you can't see it very well, but there are 19 crappie over 10" & 6 saugeye in that cooler between 15-17". I probably threw back 10+ crappie that were between 9-10". There are also 2 crappie in there between 12-13". Was I surprised...damn straight I was!😯 I don't use live bait anymore except for the occasional catfish trip which I have not done in 5 years. All fish were caught on retrieved jig. I carried a small box of crankbaits, but never ended up using a single 1. I will say the fish were deeper than expected, but then again, nothing about yesterday evening was what I expected.

Sorry, I can't get the picture to load, keep getting a server error & try again later....not what I expected!

OK, one last trip… Had to take a couple more kiddos out today, including my own ( per their request). All we had to do was sit on the dock and set a wax worm 3 feet deep… They absolutely slayed 23 keepers, and nothing was under 8 inches… I was pretty proud.
