Me and the guys are coming to Caesar Creek in April. This will be our first time to the area and really looking forward to it. We will have the boat, and staying in the State Park Campground. I'm thinking on concentrating on the north half of the lake around the stream coming into the lake, for warmer water. I don't want anyone spots but just a little information on something to look for to get started. Also is there a place to seine for minnows. I see there is a bait store below the dam, but I like to seine for my own. Any must do restaurants in the area. Thought Id throw a line and see if I could get some information on where to begin. Tons of crappie all around there. Really going to come down to the weather though. If the water warms up then they could be on the bank or they still might be a little deeper or scattered. Are you coming beginning or end of April? Other issue is rain. If we get a lot of rain then the creek will blow out and all of that water comes in to the lake. Can get dirty fast. If thats the case then head down to the southern part of the lake and the water will be clearer until the mud reaches it. Remember it is no wake from the bouy by the marina to the bouy on the other side of the bridge. I have never seined for minnows there. You can cast net shad though.

fishdealer about summed it very well... it's really important to know which part of April you're going to be there… First couple weeks of April… Very iffy… The last week of April, depending on the water temperatur, You could very well slay some crappie. personally, I would focus on 2 to 10 feet of water....slow retrieve with a 1" chartreuse twister tail. (1/16 ounce head)
The north end by the creek mouth can be very productive, but if you get rain… That's the first part of the lake that turns to blown out soup…

Try 73 Grill just down from the campground. Blue plate specials and the usual burgers ect And draft beer! Breakfast on the weekend now.

They had a kick-ass burger the last one we stopped in there on the bike but it’s been a couple years.

Best eats: Waynesville eats: Stone House Tavern, Bentinos Pizza. Near I-71 & Rt. 73 is 73 Grill. Just west of Waynesville is a simple place called B&B Carryout with Gas, Bait, 24 hour grill. There Cajon Fried Chicken Fingers or the Burgers are good. Ask for the Bailout Cheeseburger deal for a bargain. Near Rt. 73 just north on 48 is Game Days which is a popular sports bar. Little River Bar & Grill in Oregonia is another winner. I guess you can tell I like to eat.

When you fish Caesar Creek there's a boat swim area that is a good crappie area.
