Cabela's Depthmaster items

Discussion in 'Tackle Talk' started by normd, Oct 14, 2008.

  1. Has anyone used the Depthmaster "Planer Board" rods from Cabela's. Got my name picked out of raffel over the weekend and I won two of them. They are 8'6" Medium action with telescoping blank that goes into the butt end of the rod.

My only complaint is they do not store as conveniently as two piece rods.

  4. I've owned 8 or so of the Depthmaster trolling rods and still have 2 or 3. IMO the rods are a good quality, well built rod but at 8'6" (the longer model is 9'0") they are a little longer than I like and the action is just a touch heavy for in-line boards (for my preference). They telesope to a shorter length than most t-scopic rods of similar length because they have a relatively long handle. To make a long story longer, they aren't the best or my favorite trolling rods I've ever used but they are a good telescoping rod for the $...sounds like the price was right!
