Was at Ladue today (7/17) for the final tourney and was in the MONSOON that was up there in the morning. Never been in so much rain before (on a boat exposed). It totally SUCKED! My rain gear sucked, my wet clothes sucked, my wet shoes and socks sucked and our creel sucked (none)! We left early cause we had no keepers to weigh in and just wanted to go home, BUT we DID catch about 15 bass in the 12 -13.5 inch range. Wouldn't you just know it...14" minimum and we catch a boat load of 13"ers!!! But what made this day special, was I caught my first bass on a BUZZ bait and my second, and third, and fourth, etc etc etc. After the rains halted around 9:00 or 10:00, there were schools of bait fish out in the open near the dam area and schools of medium sized bass were popping them like crazy in groups on the surface. When we'd see where the water was boiling, we'd run over there and throw white buzzbaits on top of the turmoil and nail a couple bass everytime!! This lasted for about an hour and then it halted. It was truly a fun time. It's a shame that only the 1 pound bass were feeding that way, why not the 3 lbers??? I've tried buzzbaits only a couple of times ever before, with no luck. I've had a couple hit and misses before, but never enough action to keep me interested till today. I ended up catching about 8-10 small 1 lb bass on buzzes and missed probably 8-10 more (probably all 4 lbers!!!). My buddy also got about 6 or so. Fun Fun Fun!
