buffing a swimming pool gel coat?

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Big Joshy, Apr 2, 2008.

  1. any suggestions on certain producs or methods for buffing a neglected swimming pool.

Its a fiberglass pool that was left for several years and was full of tons of leaves and nasty water. Even a dead bluegill and a giant dead bullfrog in there. Ive cleaned it out and used some bleach in a spray bottle to clean off the stubborn black stains on the sides and bottom. Now its just chalky looking and has a slight alge line around the waterline and has some white mineral type deposits around above the water line. Any suggestions from people who know about this stuff would be appreciated. I know about acid washing but I would like to avoid that and just bring it back to life in another way. Thanks

    Big Joshy,

Acid washing will bring it back to new. If you don't want to deal with the acid fumes/danger get a product named Acid Magic. It is a safe Acid. No fumes No skin eating.

  3. thanks for the info. Ive heard that I might be able to just use a buffer with some automotive type compound.
