Headed out to Buckeye Yesterday 080413 to do a little fishing in the boat since the weather was nice. I arrived around 8AM and fished to 1:00. The morning was nice and peaceful but by Noon there were lots of pleasure boaters out on the water. The water was a nasty green with Algae but I still ended up catching some fish. My two best fish were a 17 1/2 eye and a 17 inch eye. I also caught 1 bass about 2 pounds and several big gills.
I sure hope with the cooler temps the algae starts to die off soon.

Was the shad flickering on the surface? Is there big schools of minnows swimming at the surface?

They posted a toxic algae warning yesterday. Hope you didn't take any home to eat!

ristorap - Yes there were schools of shad in the area I was is.

the shad are jumping all over the place on that lake

Glad you got some nice ones. The algae is no good and the fishing can be worse when that stuff starts to die.

Yeah - I was surprised that the algae was as bad as it was when we have had a cooler summer than normal.
