i needed to replace my bilge pump so i bought a new one and began to remove the old.thinking that this was gonna be a "piece of cake" job was probably my first mistake.you know, mount the base, cut the old wires, connect the new wires, etc.
why would have someone mounted a bilge pump base with rivets???
well, that's how the old one was installed! i ended up having to drill out the rivets(i found myself quickly turning to religion,"lord PLEASE don't let me drill through the hull!!!":D )
anyway, the new one is in and is mounted with stainless steel nuts and bolts so the next one can be replaced easily.
i'm begining to miss my old 14 fter!!!!

some are just a motor cartridge that can be replaced easily without taking it off the mount.had to remove mine because of a cracked hose fitting, and had to remove it from the thru the hull plumbing. and then install the new one.
