big bags????

  1. i was at lorain today and seen a couple boats with big orange and yellow bags that floated on the water, almost looked like bouys... just wondering what there are or what they are used for...thanks.

    I would say those are drift socks. They are used to slow down your drift or trolling speed.

    yep, drift or trolling bags. Some boats troll to fast at idle and are forced to use bags to slow them down. When trolling- you need 1 bag per side mounted amidships off the side.

    that floated on the water.... may have been towing marker bouys for a sailboat race. i have seen something like that when anchored for perch too????

    freyed--the balls for perching attach to your anchor line, you back down hard enough to sink the ball and bump it to nuetral, when the ball floats it "pops" the anchor and frees it from the bottom- it actually works real well.
     
  6. no they where huge, freyed might be right cause there was a hole bunch of sailboats over there..
