Best presentation for tip-ups?

  1. Hey guys. I've been setting up my 2 tip-ups each time I go out fishing with very limited success, the only action I"ve gotten in about 8-10 trips has been one walleye. What's your favorite way to present a minnow on a tipup?

Usually set mine around 18" off bottom--take lots of crappies this way(except this year:(). Spoke to a guy near me last weekend who suggested using no weight and set them 2-6 inches off bottom for walleye. Also said don't try to bring it in unless it's spinning. If it hits then stops-wait awhile to see if it resumes.
