Which format works with the most applications? I need to set my preferences on my flatbed scanner. Choices are: Bitmap(.BMP), TIFF(.TIF), PCX(.PCX), PhotoShop(.PSD), Targa(.TGA), JPEG(.JPG), RTF(.RTF)
    Currently its set at TIFF.

  2. For photos JPEG(.JPG)

JPG's print great as photos. Line art? Stick with BMP. Gifs and PNG are strictly web, and won't print well.

  6. for the WWW you'll want faster loading content that are smaller in file size so do as Shake suggest... For anything you want to print for any reason go with Jpeg
