I will be heading to the UP this weekend to fish for Pike. I was wondering what hooks you guys reccomend for live creek chub presentations. In the past I have lost a few fish and am trying to increase my hookup %. I was thinking of using circle hooks. Will they work for Pike? Should I stay with a plain Eagle Claw bait hook. Any help would be great.

I use a #4 eagleclaw plainshank/baitholder the majority of the time, but you might want to step-up the size for pike. Circlehooks work, but you have to get used to them. They do not always set themselves with tension as advertised. Just make sure you use a steel leader, or superline.

I was concerned about the mouth of a pike and the way a circle hook digs into the corner of the mouth.
  4. I've had good luck with the Mustad Big gun catfish hooks.

the problem with pike is that their mouth (lip area) is so darn hard, and that their gills come all the way up into their mouth and you almost gill hook them every single time.

i would use an external barbed baitholder, for easy removal.
