I am looking to plan a trip camping in August. I have camped at east harbor state park, but it felt more like tailgating. Don't get me wrong I had fun and I would stay there again, but I would like some opinions on possible better options.

Thanks

The wife and I spend a week at sleepy hallow every year. It's across from Wal-Mart with other stores in the area. Fishing isn't far away. If like tipping them back its fine just don't get crazy.

IMO opinion, your options are somewhat limited. Cedarlane isn't too bad and they have a pool, although not "waterfront". http://www.cedarlanervpark.com/

Kelleys' Island state park is another option as well as state campground on South Bass. This area attracts tons of visitors so you are not gonna find nice "secluded" water front campgrounds anywhere. East Harbor is probably one of the most visited state parks of them all. If you can schedule it after kids are back in school , it may help..unless of course you have kids of your own! :)
