Battery Charger problem.

Discussion in 'Boats and Motors' started by capt-hook, Jul 28, 2005.

  1. Seems as how my charger is not putting a full charge
    to the battery.
    Its over two years old.
Was on Hoover for about an hour and the batt. just got
    weaker and weaker.
There is a little light on the charger that denotes a full charge.
Not on after two days of charging.
Can these things wear out ?
    Oh yea its from K-marts

  2. Cpt Hook,

How old is the battery? Is it maintenance free or flooded cell? If it a flooded cell battery it needs the water level checked every 2 or 3 charges. If you charge a battey while any of the cells are under filled (plates not covered) you can irrepairably damage the battery.

  3. I would have the battery check out if it has a bad cell it will show fully charged but not hold the charge very long under load. Most auto parts store will perform a load test free of charge, then you will know if batt. is good or not.

My guess is it is the battery. However if you store you charger in a damp area it will go bad.
