Missed out on an Eagle Rare release last month, so bought an allocated Weller which others said was still available behind the counter. Unwrapped it the other day thinking it was the Weller 107 - - actually it was Weller Full Proof. Anyone have this before ? Seems the secondary market really marks this up so I'm hoping its worth the hype

Lucked into some Salted Caramel last month.... I never use the bags, but started thinkin after drinkin - maybe repurpose, since I hate wearing masks - perhaps that'll incentivize me. (Going to ask the girlfriend to hem the edges, but it'll most likely find its way into the trash,,,,,,and I wouldn't blame her)

OK, I've been getting into the bourbon scene for the last three years or so… I enjoy it immensely, however, I have a semi-serious question for anyone here that's really, really into bourbon…
From what I understand, and read, bourbon is one of the most heavily regulated products in the United States… From the aging process, to the bottling process, to the 51% corn requirement, to the aged in charred new oak barrels requirement. when I watch shows on YouTube, read about articles, I typically see everyone tasting the bourbon and then reflecting on the "notes " such as smoky, fruity, floral, and so on… My question is… Am I missing something? If the same requirements are imposed on every distiller that makes bourbon, how are you guys picking up all these subtle little "notes "of flavor?I never seem to be able to decipher tiny hints or flavors like that… And from what I understand, even to be labeled as "bourbon "..... other ingredients are not allowed to be added in the process. help me make sense of this. and maybe I am drinking it wrong?
Bottled in bond bourbons have nothing else added
Been on a woodford reserve kick. Got the double oaked. Liked the regular better I think. That on ice with Busch or Miller lite. Old fashioned either way

The wife and I have been trying all the hard to get , stand in line types of bourbon.
The regular woodford reserve is still our fav.
The woodford double oak is pretty tasty though.

Tried a bunch of em over the years, woodford is really nice. The double oaked was a tad harsh straight up but was fine after the ice melted a bit. Jeffersons ocean is about the best I've ever had, it's pretty easy to find but it's kinda steep. The PA state stores mark it down to about 65 bucks a bottle sometime.

Found some Weller Special Reserve at the local liquor agency a short while ago. Was my first go round with a wheated bourbon. At least I think it was because the flavor was unlike anything I had tasted in the past. However, it grew on me, and I've finally been able to tease out some flavor nuances. I get caramel, a hint of cinnamon, and something like orange zest right at the finish. But, there's more to it than that. There's a big flavor mid-palate that I just can't nail down. It's like nothing else I've tasted before. Maybe I'll have to buy another bottle. 😁

For some reason or another.... I was in a liquor store today, and bought a Bourbon called ChickenCock.. Probably for the novelty I guess. Did not crack it open yet..

My son got me a bottle of the wheated Wellers for Christmas. I agree. It's very good. Only problem is that the bottle is almost empty. Going to have to find another one also.

Had an enjoyable morning fishing the Chagrin River for steelies Mar 3 - landed several guys and girls but as always missed on several "money shots" (difficult taking pics solo) before the heavy rain hit that afternoon.....Stream was a little higher than hoped for, but it didn't get any better that afternoon, LOL

Picked up my first 'Penelope Barrel Strength' afterwards - and was very pleasantly impressed - so picked up a second one today at Bassett's in Port Clinton. It runs around $65 out the door - compared to several others at that price (for me at least) its a 'good pour'......

Last summer was fishing on Lake Erie and caught a large walleye and a mess of perch. Twas the day before we were leaving and I already had more walleye and perch than I wanted, so I gave my catch to a guy who had a house next door to where we were staying on East Harbor. He brought my cooler back and gave me a bottle of Elijah Craig - first time my brother or I had tried that bourbon, but that's now my go to...

Yes, had the Penelope Architect a few months ago and agree - we enjoyed it so thought I'd try the Barrell Strength if it could be found. Apparently its an 'allocated purchase' - at least at the local store, but have added this to the collection when available.....

Good stuff, it's a old name they brought back. Bardstown distillery makes it. Blue label?

I'm going to turn this into mint julep goodness on Memorial Day.
