i have had grass carp on cut crab apples, but they are
hardly apples.....crab apples, maybe in the same 'family'?

but,i dont see why apples wouldn't work.take it from me
carp like fruit...i have had commons and grass on all sorts
of fruit.only problem with apples, that i can see is how one
would rig them on a hook or hair?

Greg...I know for a FACT that carp love Fruit "flavors"...so they just might work.
    Cut out a 1/2" x 1/2" square and hair-rig it...bet ya it might be semi-boyant too....hmmmmmmmm?

Well i'll give ya guys a secret since we are on this "apple" subject..carp love jolly rancher sour apple candys(melted down in a sauce pan) and added to sweetcorn.
I also know a carper that does very well on a very sour apple flavor that comes from a childrens candy.

i learned that jolly rancher trick from an old man
years ago :D it works too.

another one thats a great dip when melted down is candy
corn!...i know an old timer that has everything from rancid
yogurt to tooth paste to mint mouth wash :D :D ..the carp
don't seem to like it but the catfish DO!

theres several bait companies that do an apple flavor, they
might be worth a try?like i stated before,i have had loads
of carps on fruits.i use to bait with freeze-dried strawberries
grapes and blueberries.then fish a fresh one of the same over
top of it.rasins are probably the best thing i have fished under
a mulberry tree.their dark in color and will last on a hook.

BTW-i think the skin of the apple would probably keep it
on the hook/hair?it might get soggy like potatoes get after
awhile?wonder how it will withstand a cast?

I know carp like nuts, fruit, veggies, etc. Has anyone tried rabbit droppings? Think of the nuts, berries, grains, etc..... in the droppings. Just wear some rubber gloved when baiting up. I have twin babiesm I've often wondered about their droppings too, when they "ball up" & look like rabbit droppings.

I also find lots of deer dropping near my deer feeders (corn), so I'm thinking that wouldnt be bad either.

I'm still elary of doing it, but it is a goal of mine to catch a 20 # carp on Crap Balls. LOL. Okay..... I wasnt serious, but if you REALLY think about it, I would be anything that these would catch carp.

  12. thats a good one on ice shanty.com their is a guy that fishes withpoop and says he catches stuff with it. maby while he is ice fishing he makes shure the shanty door is closed than pulls down his pants and takes a big one rite where he is fishing. might have to stir them up a bit to get them to sink.
