Alum Crappie

  1. I was just wondering how the fishing has been for the Alum Crappie. I took the last few weeks off from fishing and will be off another week then I will be chasing those slabs down once again. July has always been one of my slow months so I usually take a break and then hit it again hard from August - October.
  2. Last Sunday I found them at all my regular places between 12-15' deep. I was using small jigs and jigs tipped with minnows.

  3. Took the kids out to Alum on Thursday morning to test some boat repairs. Messed around in a couple of deep coves with no luck and decided to troll the main lake for fun. My youngest son caught 3 crappie about 10-12" long on a fire-tiger bandit crankbait south of the New Galena ramp trolled on a break between 16-20' of water. Nothing too great, but he was thrilled.
