Advice on enhancing white oaks

  1. Has anyone ever tried or heard of how or if it can be done to enhance the acorn? Does fertilizer work and what kind? Does clearing old or new growth around the tree work? Or are we just at mothers nature mercy while waiting for a bumper crop every few years. Is there a good site that will help educate me on this subject? Thanks for your imput!

  2. This is straight from some of the link that Mike referenced.
Clearing some trees that may be competing with the oaks can be a good thing but do not expose the base of the tree. Personally I wouldn't do much at all unless you do indeed have some extremely large trees competing. If they are timber valued trees then you may look at harvesting some of them. If they are not timber value then stoke the fireplace.

The link that Mike listed has some very good info in it.
