'67 Johsnon 6hp no spark top cylinder

Discussion in 'Boats and Motors' started by BottomBouncer, Nov 24, 2008.

  1. Started out with no spark on either cylinder. I then realized the points were not set... Now I have a good spark on the bottom cylinder and still nothing up top. The plug wire has a good connection at the coil and all other ignition parts look almost brand new.

Any ideas? Tomorrow I'm going to switch the coils and see if I still get spark on the bottom. Anything else I should be looking for?????

I'm no expert but swittching coils would be a start. double check all wires grounds and condensors etc. Sometime it is such a simple thing ? Good luck

  3. Well, coils were switched and now we have spark up top and none on the bottom.

Order your new coil through your local NAPA store...about 1/2 the price of a marine dealer.
