4 stroke smoking after oil change

  1. changed the oil in my 4 stroke 9.9 Johnson kicker last weekend. fired it up this past weekend and had quite a bit of oil smoke/burning for the first 6-8 seconds. Even saw smoke coming from the water stream/tube.

has anyone experienced this? after the smoke cleared the motor purred for 4/5 mins before I shut it off.

do you use seafoam or anything like that in your gas?

  3. as a matter of fact, i did previously add Sta-bil to my fuel after a recent fill of 25 gallons. I can't recall if it was right before i ran it or not. i've used Sta-bil in the past, but never, Never, NEVER saw any smoke from my 9.9.
  4. just sounds like the sea foam or stabil cleaned things up while it was siting and you burned it off.
