    Check these guys out

If you plan on running an older motor, keep your eyes out (ebay) for a parts motor. You'll be shocked at how expensive parts can be!
  5. You should be able to get your parts at NAPA.
  6. Matt, try Bridges Boats in Akron. He has tons of old OMC parts.

Always do a compression test before putting a lot of time, effort and money into an outboard.

You can pick up a tester at most autoparts stores for around $20 and do the compression test in 1/2 an hour. If there's a difference of more than 10psi between cylinders or any are less than around 100psi the powerhead will need a rebuild. For the cost of bearings, pistons, rings, gaskets, machining work etc. you can pick up a newer used motor from the 1980's.
