Went on Erie Sat. and my motor cavitated and the rpms went high. The boat nearly spopped in the water. Ran slowly a few miles and trolled about 5 hours. On the way in I throttled up and the tach indicated nearly 6000 r's and the boat was only going around 20 mph. I gave it a little more throttle and the tach showed over 6500 with a little more speed. Cut back and went to the dock. While traveling up the channel my tach showed 2400 rpms at a speed of 2-3 mph. Usual rpms for 25 mph are 4000-4500.

Could a spun hub in the prop cause this?

    Thanks, Gill
  2. It sounds like you spun the hub on your prop.
