SO Last Nite , I am out in 16 Ft of water looking for marks at Dark after 9pm .. My screen on my Humminbird Helix 9 Go crazy with all kinds of clutter rising from the bottom of the lake ...
With in Minutes I am covered in Mosquittos by the Hundreds all attracted to my sonar Light and Nav Lights ... Anyone else every seen this on a Fish finder it was CRAZY If it happens again I am taking Pictures ....
The bugs have been out of control wading especially if it gets flat after dark...I just figured it was some type of bug hatch from the water...not bad until you need to use the headlamp
Could be plankton. Read an article years ago that showed them rising on a sonar screen. Also could have been some kind of hatch. Mayflies maybe. Or Caddis.
I remember standing in a trout stream when a huge hatch of Caddis came off. They don't bite, but it was absolutely miserable. They were all over me, in my ears, nose, mouth and eyes!
My buddy and I were at Milton on Wednesday and there were carp all over eating something off the surface. I told my buddy there must be a bug hatch of some kind taking place. I wish we would have had the fly rods with us as we could have gotten a mess of carp.
Carp were feeding on surface at Milton too last week, looked like a bug hatch, but the carp were in big pods sucking the hatch in.
