Island troller, I have not had an issue yet either but I am very careful to keep them out of the sun. I have been twice on a friend and a relatives boat where they have melted. After a friend contacted Smithwick, they exchanged the melted P10s and said it has been a common problem. They said not to store hallow plastic baits in clear plano boxes.
I should have known this as Tuff Shad has the same instructions on their website.
I guess I never realized that could happen. I will be aware of that in the future though. They are stored out of the sun so that may have helped so far.
Here is information on the B & B bait boxes. I love the design, looked at them past couple years, but do not own one. I have a Special Mate box that holds 120 reefs, DHJs, etc. Nice to hear you can get 2 P10s per slot. That would make these more economical. Currently have lots of Plano boxes with 4 lures per slot that are tangled mess to get one out of. I think for my birthday will get one of these.

Good point. I don't think it has to be that warm. 80 degrees in the spring on a sunny day could do it. If you don't have a special box, keep them out of the sun in any temperature.
I went from the B&B boxes to the Special Mates and Love it. The boxes drain water out so no need to let the lures out on the deck before putting them away. In addition the B&B boxes if that lure falls I can't get my big fingers down there to get it out. Special Mate has dividers and you can see the colors better.
Here are my special mates boxes. I used the spoon dividers and took a dremel tool to cut the notches a little deeper. I use a rubber band on the front hooks and i can get 12 RR, P10, Bandits and 13 DHJ per row.

I'm just curious, appears that the lower hooks will easily tangle without the dividers to seperate. Is this an issue for you and is there much of a benefit as opposed to the #8128 box?
I have the special mate boxes and I do like them I went out and got some as soon as I went out with some friends and got to check theirs out. I can't compare them to the other but have no reason to consider giving up what I have, they are rather bulky but not an issue with the storage on my boat.

Good idea bank angler! After looking around on the web for pricing on Special Mate boxes, I started thinking - how hard can it be to make one of these myself. Always up for this type of challenge, I started looking around for materials. Home Depot has their orange tool box for $10 and a nicer black toolbox for $15. So I though - off to a good start! Then it was on to - what to use for the dividers - found some polystyrene 1/4 x 1" X 8 ft. strips that would be perfect and at about $3.50 each turned out I would need $25 worth of them to make 7 dividers on each hanging plate. Hmmm, now I'm up to $40! The bargain of a self built special mate tackle box is starting to fade! But just to finish the exercise, I found some 1/4 inch thick cutting boards at Walmart - perfect size, $0.88 each (times 15) for a total of $13. That puts me at $53! add adhesive for another $5, give the Governor his due and I'm over $60! Well I've seen them as low as $59 for the 8128 model at my favorite tackle shop while growing up in Michigan! Picking it up on my next visit to see mom! LOL!
One of the biggest advantages to the Special Mates and B & B boxes over a bunch of 3700s is that all of the lures you have are available in one place. I can thumb through all of the dividers in the Special Mates box and pick a lure that otherwise may have been in a 3700 box in the bottom of a compartment that was not accessed.
Special Mate boxes have a molded pattern on the top and bottoms and stack nicely together and lock in. Been in some good waves and they don't slide off each other.
i put a small craft or braces type rubber band around the hooks and the body to hold them in place. (IF you look in the photos, you can see the rubber bands.) Very few tangles. I chose this option over the one with dividers because my Reef Runner addiction is such that the Special Mates box with the dividers wouldn't have held all of them. I filled one box with RR and another with DHJ, P10s, and Bandits. That one is getting full too.
