Any bowfishing tournaments happening this year in or near Ohio?
I have a 14ft john boat that I added a platform and lights to that I can add pictures of later. I have 8 of the cheaper led lights mounted to pvc that is attached to the platform.
I'm hoping I will be able to have 2 shooters and one driver at a time but I am not sure if it can handle that weight.
Buckeye bowfishing tournaments, mostly southern/ SW Ohio. Don't care much for their format or locations, but it's the only game in town right now. Seem like good guys that run it, but every group wants to shoot their home areas almost exclusively & makes it tough for many people to make the shoots.
We shot 3 out of the 1436 we had when we started & it was safe, but tight. Be careful if you get into the fish & start loading it down though, it can sit awfully low in the water with a few hundred pounds of carp in there. Weight distribution is key on a smaller boat, knowing that you are going to have everyone in the bow area when shooting. We are on our 3rd boat & shoot 4 off it comfortably & safely.
What part of the state are you in, maybe we can meet up & shoot somewhere ??
Oh, and welcome to the addiction, it get's expensive !!!
Im in Jackson County and know most of the spots in southern ohio. I sold my boat over the winter because I bought a new house and didn't have room for it, but I still have a bowfishing rig. If yall ever need another shooter, let me know.
We'll take you up on that Beaver ; been trying to get down south for a couple years & having a guide would be great !!! Besides, we can talk trapping all night while we shoot.
