That fish is almost surely an F2 Hybrid (Saugeye X Saugeye). Probably a once in a lifetime catch. I think i've seen one other in my life. Very, Very rare.
A saugeye x saugeye cross. With the millions and millions of eggs deposited each year it just has to happen. I've read that with the right conditions they could even have a good hatch. I've personally have never caught one let alone seen one.
Good job Shane, catching the only hybrid in the whole lake.
Interesting I've never heard of that much less seen one. Although saugeye is not a primary target for me, we catch a fair amount of them. More than just catching, I love learning about fish too. Thanks for the share, I'll now be on the watch for these rarities.
Amazing photo, I'm gonna do some research on these as I'm totally in disbelief they even exsisited. That's a great shot right there thanks for the share
How about this fish on the left????Another Seneca fish. Not the best view, but lot's of extra white and a strange mottled pattern. I've caught thousands but never seen one quite like it. I did catch a 16 incher too at Seneca that was almost all black. Wish I had a pic of that one.
