All of them? That really sucks! A GREAT way to get kids into fishing?
Why on the subject, does any one know of any pay lakes in central ohio that stock big trout? I know hickory lakes in pickerington used to,but not sure abou. Anymore....
Id love to take my nephews!
I am not sure of the public fall stocking's, but I know of the ODNR Spring Trout stocks. This was my first year hitting some of the Spring Trout stocking areas and it was decent. I viewed how some of these announced Trout stockings can IMO get out-of-hand. Again, only my opinion but having countless folks casting out almost directly where the Trout are being dropped into the waters seems unreasonable. Think public stockings should be unannounced and have the first 3-5 days for children (12 and under) only. I went to 5 locations in Ohio this year early spring, each occurrence went the 3rd day after it was stocked and for the most part the crowds no longer present. Still limited out majority of the time including couple days in which my 2.5 year old Daughter caught a few Trout (her first fish too). Goodluck.
If I get a chance to check if there are gills still left at a honey hole I know of, will PM you location in case you'd like to take the kids. Plus there are spots Crappie are still hitting minnows under a bobber.
ODNR farms out (pun) it's trout breeding to private companies now, so they no longer have to recycle their breeding fish. That's what they used to put out during the fall stock....and there used to be some biggies in there. I remember seeing pictures of fish over 2 feet pulled out of Antrim posted on this site.
Thanks for all the replys guys
I remember seeing the big breeders outof antrim... big fish! I never got in on that action but have caught some 20"+ fish from hickory lakes YEARS ago.
REY,thanks for the reply and offer, and i agree with you about it would be nice for the kids only,to get first crack.
IMO I think the times and dates for youth tourneys should stay as is or maybe add a day so the kids have 2 days rather than one and I shouldn't have to give up a day of fishing (or 2) just because the kids r fishing. I'm perfectly capable of fishing around them without interfering in any youth event
Bjp,thanks for the tip,but man. Your lookin at droppin some coin to catch dems trout..=-O ...
2,500$Plus tax anual plus 3,500$ intial one timer. Or vise versa, anyhow, ummm lol maybe when the kids are older...
Seriously though IF i had the disposable income id drop tthe coin, right now.
Any one one here have experiencewith a club like briarwood? i know it may ne like shooting a fish in a barrel.but its more then likely low pressured, especialy days like today, probally little to no trash to stair at. Imagine if they allow ice fishing, from the web site the panfish looked HUGE as did some of the trout.
LOL maybe one of these days,oh yea not to mention nice easy manicured landscape to walk around,im freaking at home beat from walking along a river an lake this afternoon...

Briarwood will let folks come take a tour and check out the property.
They rent out the houses (Which are unbelievable cool) for a hundred or so a night and let u use the boats to fish the lakes.
The owners name is chris. Definitely worth going and checking it out.
They damed up the headwaters of the mad River and made a bunch of unique pools for trout(fly fishing only) and have a larger reservoir that has a bunch of species from walleye to Muskies. I stayed there several times and have caught several trophy size fish of various species from both the stocked trout lakes and reservoir.
Can still pick up some rainbows at Antrim. Was there a couple times when the shoreline was lined up the day before Thanksgiving. Too bad it was discontinued. No problem with the other fishermen, just had to watch that you didn't hook a swimming dog.
I'm surprised anyone talks about antrim. If you can't cast half a mile there's no point in trying. Once the bows find that deep hole in the middle they stay there and its nearly impossible to cast to them
