Just wondering if there would be any interest for anyone wanting a trip to Ontario for the first week of October? I own a cabin on a 17 mile long reservoir, pike, walleye, and brook trout fishing plus duck hunting and grouse!
Yep, the offer still stands. I know it's a ways off but figured I'd get it out there. Check out my old user name "Bighillbilly" for pictures of the place in the trade a trip forum
66 days until I leave, give or take a day. At this point anyone who would like to go would already need a passport. Cost will be around $300 per person, depending on how many adults go. This does not include hunting license or fishing license. I have 2 openings. I'd like to keep it to the 2 F150's which will keep costs down. I will be taking up my 18' trailer with room for 2 more quads and my 16' boat. I also have a 14 footer up there with a 9.9. I can get my hands on another boat if needed.
My mom and dad will be going along with my 4 kids (ages 5 thru 13).
Duck hunting can be excellent with tons of blacks and other puddlers. Grouse hunting is awesome with 20 birds flushed in a couple hours easily. Fishing can be excellent depending on the weather.
I've responded to pm's so check them if you sent me one. Any other questions feel free to ask.
Wow. This is a great opportunity! Buddies and I were going to go to wawa and then fly into a nearby lake for a long weekend, but weather prohibited it last weekend. Would have cost a lot more !
Trip was AWESOME! Temps were above normal (50's and 60's) for the highs and (30's and 40's) at night. Leaves were still on the tree's due to no hard frost yet. Grouse, ducks, and geese were around, along with a few Loons and Eagles.
Fishing was better then in years past for fall time. Jigging in the evening close to the cabin from shore produced quite a few small to medium sized walleye along with some decent pike. Trolling clown colored husky jerks during the day produced both walleye and pike. 4 pike were over 36" with 2 being in the 40" range. Not bad considering they dropped the lake almost 4' while we were there. Couldn't get minnows in town so all jig fish came on plastics with white, chartreuse, and pink being the best colors.
Did some work on the pace while we were there. New entry door, stairs, deck, and painting. Still a work in progress but eventually it'll get there, not enough time / money to do everything at once.
A huge THANK YOU to "Cut Bait" for going up and spending the week with me and my family! Hopefully my kids didn't drive you too crazy! LOL!
Mike, I had a great time, beautiful weather, good fishing and your family was gracious enough to have me up to the cabin. Also your kids were great. All of them are good fishing partners, LOL. Your dad is also a mean cabin cook . Again, thanks for the invite.
Nice deal there, I have two cabins on wabatongushi and the fishing that time of the year is great!
