I just wanted to put this out there about the Ram 1500

I left the Diesel world for now and I recently bought a new one, 2014 with the Hemi (Thanks Catfishhunter)

So far I really like the truck, only complaint is the mirrors absolutely suck for towing so I bought some extensions and they help.

I bought a camper yesterday, 27ft and weighs about 6000#. Driving up to get it I was worried the entire time thinking I was going to be missing the diesel as soon as I hooked up to it, couldn't have been more wrong. I got it all hooked up and started the trip home. In tow haul mode and cruising down the road I couldn't believe it, not even a strain. I was cranking up hills and picking up speed, just couldn't believe it. Super smooth shifting from the 8 speed tranny, even Doboy was impressed as he rode along with me. I pulled it from EllWood City Pa to Ohio, lots of hills and some city driving.

Averaged 11mpg towing

I just had to post this because its been awhile since I had a gas motor impress me. The last good gas motor I liked was a old 96 Ram with a 360.

I would change out the mirrors to Tow Style but the Mopar crew screwed the pooch on that one. They decided that they would put a temperature sensor in the drivers mirror on the sport model and it would help control the tranny. Real smart move there

My specs
2014 Ram Crew 4x4 Sport 5.7 Hemi
3.92 gears
8 speed tranny

I added the air bags that go in the springs, only $89 and I am very impressed. I put 10lb air in them and the camper only squatted it 1.5", I did not use a equalized hitch at all.

I bought a 2015 crew big horn 3.0 diesel about 2 months ago, 3.55 gears, I pull a lund 1800 fisherman with it getting 21 mpg running 65 to 70 mph, around town the same mpg, I have only done one short trip not towing and got 27 mpg, very impressed with the power so far, very quite for a diesel, ride is very smooth, shift points are spot on, I don't use the tow hall mode, did a lot of research before buying it, my first diesel, I didn't want a 3/4 ton or the mileage of a gasser since I tow a lot...

2015 Big Horn Crew 5.7 and get 19.5 running 75 mph with the air going and 17.5 pulling the boat. Remember to switch off the 8 speed when towing it helps the mileage. Just returned from Nashville, 560 miles and ran 80 mph all the way back and averaged 19.5 with the air going. I noticed pulling the hills down south I was around 17 but it picked up after I hit some flatter road.

I am on my second Hemi Ram, I love my new one.

2015 Ram Sport 5.7 Crew Cab

If I stay out of it, I can get high 18's all day 21+ on the highway.... But I currently average 13-14, Hemi wants to run :)
