The trutle pushes the slanted doors open, and at that time they can not get out because the door close behind them and also they can not suspend in water to even get out the opening.

As far as bait I have used many different things: chicken liver, ground hog, fish, carp, and many others.

As far as success rate I have never had on get out. Last year with my old traps I caught roughly two dozen in two and half weeks.

i would think the constipated kind. since they seem alot harder when they come out. and should last a while longer than the regular crap. just my opinion.:-)

do the traps have a six inch diameter opening? It is required and if not how much trouble to make them legal? I think you could just clip a few of the wires.

We always used jugs, or tied bank lines. I never heard of a turtle trap, but it looks interesting. Do you have any luck with them?

If you check memphis net & twine they have turtle traps which consist of hoop style turtle trap, I have two of them and they work real well.

Default Traps

There is a 6''x6'' hole in the side for bait access. The two front doors swing open to let the turtle out. They are just wired shut. The price is $150 OBO. The wire will not rust due to being coated wire.
