Default What to do about those nasty biting flies ?

Spent a nice afternoon searching for Perch out of Fairport Harbor Friday 8/4. The worst part of the day was the flies biting. Does anyone have some good advice to pass along on how to repel those little buggers? We tried Deep Woods Off which was good for about 15 minutes. Cutters which was good for 5 minutes. They eventually prevailed and we quit about 7:30. The other bad part of the day was the lack of Perch. But the White Bass made up for that.

The more Deet, the better. I've noticed that using a 'low deet' formula actually sends them into a feeding frenzy.

Also, I've heard that misting down the floor and/or fishing area with Windex drives them off. They don't like the amonia.

Thanks PB. I knew I had seen a posting somewhere, I just didn't look far enough back.

As for our boat I am going to Tractor Supply and getting some fly paper. Seeing an Avon rep for SSS and ordering one of those mesh suits.

Go to a Horse tack shop or maybe even a pet store.(I get mine at pet store).
They make fly repellent for horses, cattle, dogs and cats.
I buy it in a roll on bottle.
roll some on your ankels and never get bit again.
