Default Pop- Ups

Man I am getting hammered over the last 6 days with 4 or 5 pop ups every time I open a new window. I down loaded a free version this morning but it doeasn't help AT ALL!! Anyone have a program out there that can help me with this problem ( another pop up ) . It is not just this site , but every site I visit. I never had this problem in the past, so I am sure it is something that the wife or kid has done with thier email address. You now the routine, send us your email to subscribe and thier are no 3rd parties involved.

Anyway, if anyone has a good program please let me know. This is getting ( another pop up ) really anoying.

By the way I went out this morning throwing cranks for some eyes. I got skunked. 30 mph winds and 3' waves. Didn't lose any baits though.

What program are you using to browse? Internet Explorer, Netscape? I use Mozilla Firefox and have 100% NO POP UPS EVER! I use IE for certain sites and always get a few. You might want to switch browsers, I love Mozilla and glad I switched over a year ago.

http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/central.html

Get it there.

PS Also what version on Windows are you using? 98, XP, XP Pro??

Another good point, I have Ad Aware, and Zonealarm as well. I have never had a virus or any other malicious spyware.

Sounds like something more than pop ups. I would download either Ad Aware or Spybot and give them a run. I dont think it is Mozilla as it is some other spyware installed unknowingly.

I just ran Spybot on my system and I got nothing going on. Its a nice program but you have to keep it updated since there are so many new things coming out all the time.

Alrighty sounds like a plan, and I could use those spinners

Mods maybe you guys can move this to the Computer section as well. Maybe it will cure some more headaches from pop ups.

I use Slimbrowser for my internet browser and never have any pop-ups and keep my computer spyware free with the ad-aware program, I hightly recommend both, i choose slimbrowser over mozilla, it is a little easier to use i think. Be sure to keep definition updated. Good Luck

I'd like to recommend that you try Avast anti virus (free) and Sygate Personal Firewall (free)

Just in case you or someone else needed them...

Default How 'bout viruses?

I never noticed anything on the forum about computers, until I noticed this thread here, so I thought I would list my dilemma. Any ideas about already embedded viruses? No offense, but I wish all I had were pop-ups. I have a virus, called Trojan Vundo? I'm am not really computer saavy and cannot seem to get rid of this mess. Tried a few things to no avail. Also tried to start in safe mode by tapping F8 key, and it must be the generic keyboard,(Original Dell k-board is not available) but it will not allow it to go into safe mode. Please, any help. It's really got this thing screwed up!!!!!!!!!!!!

Snake, if you have road runner cable service you can go to their web site and download the EZ software for free. It has a virus program in it that is decent.

Snake :

http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilitie...sExplorer.html

1. Download Process Explorer (procexp.exe) from Sysinternals from the link I provided, dl the program corresponding to the Windows system you have(98,XP,etc..)

2. Reboot the infected machine

3. Launch the VirusScan On-Demand Scanner (ODS), or the command-line scanner, but don't initiate the scan yet

4. Run Process Explorer and suspend the Explorer.exe, Winlogon.exe, and rundll32.exe processes (right-click on these process names and choose suspend)

5. Scan & clean with the current DAT files and engine (the Window launched in step 3 above) [there will be clean failures, that is expected]

6. Physically power the machine off and back on.(a hard reset is required as Windows will not shutdown without Winlogon.exe running, and resuming that process will revert the changes made by the scanner).

These steps will removal all relevant registry entries and identified Vundo components.
