Most people pull them behind jets. Although i dont see why you couldnt pull them behind dipseys or inline weights. People pull harnessses behind both so why not spoons?
I usually dont fish spoons unless thats what the ticket is. Also, unlike a harness, spoons make no noise. They attract fish by flash, so sunny, clear days is when to utilize them if you do. They usually are put out with no live bait. Have you ever put out a crawler harness with no bait..? Thats kind of how i look at spoons. You could make a spoon harness and that may help but i have never done it.
As for jets... I cant stand em. Too much resistance. And i hate skiing in fish because the diver planes out. And i dont like the resistance. With tru trips, half the time i cant tell if the jet is tripped, or if its a big fish. And if its a big fish, i dont wannt jerk the rod back to see if its not tripped risking pulling the hook out of a hogs mouth. Just use inlines and crawler harnesses, you will not be dissapointed. And you get more fight out of it with using inlines.
