Default False Morel Identification

Just thought I would post some websites that show false morels. So people new to morel hunting know the difference between true morels and false. I got these websites from the Michigan-sportsmans forums in the mushroom hunting sub if anyone is interested.

Just thought I would share these so everyone stays safe.
Good luck and stay safe.

Good post. I didn't see one false this year (beef steak) . Usually I see them right before the blacks come up. The verpas I've only seen twice & they were filled with the cottony substance. I hear the verpas are more common in Michigan & a lot of people eat them & even sell them along roadside stands. Eventually the toxins in them will build up in your system & can cause serious problems down the road.

I'm new to morel hunting, but I've read several books on them. The take home lesson I got from every book was the same, if the stem is not hollow, leave it alone!
