Default Deer Creek Saugeye

I just moved close to deer creek and have been fishing the spillway 3-4 times per week. I'm catching allot of dinks and only a couple decent ones using jigs and minnows in a tandem setup (I think I have tried every color jig / jighead known to man).

Has anyone had any luck with other baits that entice the big guys? Any words of wisdom that you could share to help with my new obsession?

Alot of small eyes there, and almost everyone keeps the small ones so the bigger ones are more rare than most places with saugeye. keep your baits in the 3 inch range or bigger. don't do the 2 inch twister thing all the time like most there do. you will catch less but have a much better chance at quality fish. IMO

if you need minnows to catch them use bass minnows instead of crappie minnows for bigger fish.

Just came back from there. Was there about four hours and didnt even catch a rock. One other person caught a Saugeye earlier, but that was it. I talked with couple older gents and they were saying the saugeye were hitting like crazy at Paint Creek, and Saugers were going nuts at Greenup on the River.FWIW
