Local authorities said a man's body was found floating in the water just north of Kelleys Island.

A boater discovered the floating body at about 2 p.m. Sunday. The U.S. Coast Guard then located the body, but the person was unresponsive to life-saving techniques, said Gabriel Settel, U.S. Coast Guard petty officer stationed in Detroit.

Officials found an unmanned 26-foot Trojan boat near the body.

Ohio Division of Natural Resources division of watercraft is working to identify the person, said Erie County Sheriff's Capt. Paul Sigsworth.

Erie County corner Brian Baxter said the body was taken to Neidecker-Leveck and Crosser Funeral Home in Port Clinton. An autopsy will most likely take place on Tuesday in Lucas County.

yep, I was within a mile of this going on while trolling......pretty sad, hit harder that I was there watching the operation go down. I didn't know what was going on when the helicopter showed up the radio traffic started talking.
