Default UPDATE on CCW on Army Corps Property

This was started by the thread about Berlin. As a result of that thread I had contacted several organizations in February to push legislation to override the Corp Commanders Policy.

The current policy is:

Quote from the park Pamphlet. "Firearms and ammunition
The US Army Corps of Engineers does not
honor State-issued concealed weapon permits,
prohibits loaded concealed weapons, the
possession of loaded firearms or ammunition on
lands and waters administered by the US Army
Corps of Engineers per 36 C.F.R. § 327.13(a)."

The NRA is also involved.

Below is a message I received Saturday. May 7th.

Hi John,
Just want to give you a heads up that legislation to correct this issue will be introduced soon in Congress. Expect to see a story on our site in the next week asking for co-sponsors.

I can't find the Berlin thread. Could someone post a link please?

Here at Alum Creek the USACE controls the dam, spillway, and tailrace. I didn't realize you couldn't carry when fishing those spots.

I've got an Email somewhere from WildOhio that claims the state law is good.(Regarding East Fork, not Berlin)
Will that work with Barney out in Bugtussle?
I'd hate to be a test case...

Here is an update to the update. The link is to an article in the Zanesville Time Reader newspaper. Looks like that ball is indeed rolling.

That will be good news if they include the USACE property as well...I read this quote from the news article provided and thought his woman is crazy - "Toby Hoover, executive director of the Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence, said she was vacationing in the Smoky Mountains, a trip she takes every year, but this year there was something missing -- the "no guns" sign.
This always has been a very peaceful place," Hoover said. "You go into the park, you stand there and think, 'What are people afraid of?' It's amazing to me that they (gun advocates) spend all this time worried about how other people are going to treat them."
...I think it's sad people like her want to dictate my safety..She will not pay my hospital bills if I get mugged and beat..If I had a wife or daughter, she would not be able to help stop their rape in progress or explain they just had to "take one for the anti gun team"..
Limiting guns to violence isn't right..You can go to any department store and buy baseball bats and big knives..Bad people don't have "bad guy" tattooed on their forehead..
