Default Where in Northwest Ohio can I buy bulk nightcrawlers?

I am headed to Canada this weekend and thought about taking our worms up with us this year. I have not done it for a while but a couple of times I stopped at Cabelas and bought their flats which is still an option but I was looking and they only list the full flat (500) quantity. We don't hammer the eyes and worms enough on the week to make that worth it. The ideal amount would be half of that. Is there a good place on my way up to pick up some in that quantity that would be worth doing as opposed to buying them when we get up there? They usually charge nearly $3/dozen up there and if we start buying many it may get expensive. I head from central Ohio up 23 to give an idea of where we will be going. If you know of any good spots along the way let me know and I may stop on the way.

Thanks in advance.

Default Northwoods Wholesale

Not sure where you are going into canada at so up I-75 in Michigan past Bay City you come to the Pinconnoning Exit just south of Standish Michigan. Northwoods Wholesale is the name of the place quite a extensive supply of everything, fishing hunting, hardware, food, furnishing and nightcrawlers for $1.00 per dozen every day, all u want. Neat place to stop at. Go into town off I75/US23 through the light and the next block up you will see the signs.

Default Taking crawlers to Canada?

I'm pretty sure that it is forbidden to take live bait into Canada. Customs will probably confiscate them (and maybe more) if you get checked. There are some states that have the same rulings.

You can transport Nightcrawlers into Canada, just not in dirt.I use to use wet newspapers layered with the crawlers and some ice .Never had a problem and was checked several times at border.

Unless this has changed in the last couple of years then Puterdude has it right. They just can not be in dirt. They need to be in worm bedding of some sort.

I wish had read Weekender's post before taking off because I would have definitely stop in there on the way up. We go up across at the Soo and I know exactly the area you are referring to at Pinconning. We ended up buying our worms in a local store up there and paid $3/dozen. And wouldn't you know it this year was a pretty decent walleye bite and more worms would have been a treat. I will keep that place in mind for next year's trip.
