Default Lake Vesuvius?

Has anyone hiked the trail around Lake Vesuvius in the Wayne National Forest? I've hiked several Wayne trails, but not Vesuvius. Can you get to the waterside to camp? Are there to many pedestrians. I'd appreciate any help out there. ....Thanks

the trail that stays right around the lake is approximately 8 miles, i have run it on several occasions, didnt see many areas if any where you could set up camp.

Thumbs up Forest Service

Size: 11.0 KBThis is what the US Forest service says on their website: These two trails encircle Lake Vesuvius. The Lakeshore Trail is 8 miles long and the Backpacking Trail makes a longer loop to offer 16 miles of hiking. Both are hiking only trails.(no bikes or ATV's)
The 16-mile Vesuvius Backpack Trail winds through some of the most striking landscapes in Ohio. Wildlife abounds and the trails take you through open fields, along the lakeshore, through brushland, mature forest, and new forest. Several access points offer hikers parking, while camping and picnicking facilities are available at the Vesuvius Recreation Area.

You can build a campfire as long as you have a 10-foot clearance around it and put a ring around it with rocks. Fires must be extinguished before leaving camp. No bon fires are allowed. No standing or green trees may be cut. Check the bulletin boards to ensure no fire bans are in effect.--Tim
