Default Castalia Trout Lottery

My son and brother were lucky enough to be selected for the 2010 Castalia Trout Lottery, with dates in July and October. Just wondering if anyone on the board has fished here under this program and what we can expect. Thanks.

I was lucky enough to win a slot last year. Great place to walk around. Make sure they see the blue hole on the property and read the signs about the hatchery. Unbelievable the number of fish you will see in the creek - tell them to take their time and enjoy the time. Still hoping to hear about this year.

Husband got lucky last year and it was a great time. Used our fly rods and yes there is an unbelievable number of fish in there...however it took a bit longer to get our limit with the fly rods! You will have a blast! Still crossing fingers for 2010!!

Near the top of this page go to "Search" enter "Castalia". There has been a lot of discussion and information about this from previous years.

They did not draw my name. I think if you enter with a child your chances improve ? ?

Thanks for the messages. My brother, my son, and I entered last year and none of us were selected, but this year I was the only one left out. Lucky draw I guess, and don't have any idea about how many apps are submitted or if a child app gave me a better chance.

It sounds like an unbelievable opportunity, and we will definitely be looking forward to going. We fish a lot in PA for trout, and my boy caught over 100 trout last year as an 11 year old, including a trophy Golden Rainbow. This will be our first trout fishing outing in Ohio and it looks to be one to remember. We also fish the Tomlinson Run stream in WV since its local, but we never have much luck down there.

Gonna bring my wife and two daughters and make a day out of it. If we all limit out, I cant imagine bringing home 25 fish. My wife has never fished for trout, so I'm sure she will have some fun too.

Oh, you'll limit out. The fishing is fast and furious, if you want it to be. We (me, wife, 2 sons) tried to prolong the experience, but still limited out in a couple of hours!

I teach beginner fishing classes In stark county. I thought about givin them a call to see if i could bring the anglers up to fish. Wonder if they would do that?

They already hold beginners fishing clinics and its also a drawing. I doubt they would let you hold your own but may be worth a call

Here is what we took home that day.
I think it took my daughter a whopping half hour to get her limit. Didn't get mine until 10 min before we had to get off the creek! You all will have a great time.
