Default Good spot for kids?

Hey all, new to the forums. Been awhile since I've fished, used to do it a lot with my dad when I was younger. My question is, now that I'm 32 ans have a 4 year old son that wants dad to take him fishing, wheres the best spot to catch fish in this particular season? I used to go for walleye with my dad on Erie and a few times on Mosquito (mostly crappie there though) Currenty I live towards wadsworth willing to drive about an hour maybe a little more.

thank you in advance,
Alex

Alex, I'd look around locally for someone with a farm pond that would let you fish. Kids and bluegills were made for eachother, get your youngster a rod, a can of worms and go make some memories.

Default Portage lakes kids ponds

You can take him to the kids ponds at Portage Lakes. It used to be the fish hatchery, now it's for kids 15 and under. I guarantee he will catch fish. Just Google, Portage Lakes Youth fishing area, for directions.

It's open on the weekends from 9 am to 7pm. You don't need to take anything with you, they will provide poles and worms. You can take your own gear if you like. I saw a kid catch a huge bass there recently. He was using some type of crank bait he brought with him.

Yes the kids ponds in Portage Lakes are great. Just have your son fish a worm on the bottom and he'll be bringin in a bunch of cats with the occasional hybrid sunfish(green x bluegill). I miss fishing those ponds...
