Default West Branch 7/6 and finally a good pic

Caught this baby tonight after some open water trolling. And finally, after 3 months of fishing, my buddy was there when I hauled a big one into the boat. This one was 45 inches. It's been one heck of a summer! Got it in and out of the water in no time, good condition despite the heat. Definitely won't take another shot holding it by it's jaw....has to be an awful lot of weight, and certainly can't be good for the fish.

Nice one MW. Yeah, any long fish like a muskie or pike needs to be held horizontal and supported underneath like your first pic. Their organs with smash together if held vertical.

Mac: That's what I was thinking. The thought just didn't go through my head at the time. Won't happen again!

I never fished Muskie before this year (dabbled a bit last fall). Used to fish bass and walleye. When you hook your first big muskie, you'll be done with that. Good luck if you start..it's a blast. Just don't take any of my fish! lol

Nice fish! Muskie fishing is one of the few kinds of fishing I DONT enjoy doing alone. There's a whole lot that can happen when you have a pissed off 20 pound fish with 5/0 laser sharpened trebles in it's mouth!

MJ:

Good point. I'm not really at Westbranch. They are all coming out of Sippo Lake!! haha

I agree with you on fishing alone. But it's been an obsession this summer, so I"m out whenever I can.

I know. I'm thinking the photographer practices taking pictures quite a bit...which is why he can't catch anything over 35 inches. All I know, is that steak dinner he's going to owe me after losing the bet is going to be great.
